Kateryna Fomychova from Kherson

Hi, my name is Kateryna. My family survived the occupation in the city of Kherson for all 8 months. It was an extremely difficult period for our family because we had a clear Ukrainian position. And every time we were desperate. And we were very afraid that they would come for us. People were taken away in an unknown direction before our eyes. Every day, raids were constantly going around the city, looking for people who cooperated with Ukraine, with our armed forces and with our government. On March 1, 22, our neighborhood and personally our multi-storey building were shelled and suffered a lot of damage, there were also victims. The children held on, we have children, 2 children, five years old and 17 years old. We supported them as much as we could all this time and distracted them from all the disruptions, because rockets were constantly hitting our neighborhood. The walls were shaking and it was very, very loud. If I can, I will attach a picture after the video. We knew that our family would not be able to evacuate because of the checkpoints, so we stayed in the city until the last one and waited for the liberation. During the entire period of occupation, the enemy destroyed our mobile stations, so we had no Ukrainian connection, we could not withdraw money normally. When we were de-occupied, we had no electricity, water, communication, heating, so we were without all of this for more than 20 days, and the worst part was the last days. We were standing for water for 10 hours a day. Just to collect drinking water and bring it home, without electricity, without water, without heating. I believe that everyone who survived the occupation is a hero! Because it was extremely difficult! Every time we were afraid that they would come for us and take us or our children away. I want to ask you not only for help, but I want to thank you for your support of Ukraine and all the people who survived it. It is very important for us. It is very important that you believe in us! Thank you for being with us! Glory to Ukraine!

Me and my family, my children... We happen to live in the occupied territory. After February 24, we could not move anywhere. My eldest daughter went to Poland, and my two children and I stayed behind. That day, in the morning, when the explosions happened, we were very scared, we thought it would not happen until the last moment. But it happened... And after February 24, there was complete chaos. There was no food, no bread, we didn't know what to do. We live in a village, we were afraid to go to the city because there was a lot of equipment and weapons there. We hid our children, so we waited until spring. Then we survived until the summer... God bless those people who helped us, the Red Cross sent us help. The worst thing was when they started taking children to school. In September, many children went to school, but we did not let ours go. They were locked up and stayed at home from September to February. In February, when the searches of houses started, we were afraid that our children might be taken away. We let them go to school, but there was no learning, only propaganda that there were benders... The children were upset, but they had to go to school. We are waiting for the armed forces and our liberation, but here they are forcing us to take Russian passports. We need money for gas in cylinders and clothes for the children, the prices for everything are high here. Therefore, we need help for basic necessities. We want the armed forces to come and liberate us as soon as possible. We want to have a prosperous Ukraine, and we are looking forward to everyone coming home. Most of all, I am afraid that my children may be taken away. I am very grateful to you!

Anastasiya Hrytsyuk from Kherson

Hello, my name is Anastasia, I am from Kherson. I have a son named Zakhar who is 6 years old. On February 24, at 10 am, my husband called me and said that the war had started. He told me to gather all the necessary things and documents. When the orcs had already entered the city, they started shooting at residential areas. Then we went down to the basement, it was very cold, very scary. When we ran out of all the necessary food, we had to go to the stores. There were very long lines at ATMs, gas stations and grocery stores. And the orcs felt at home, driving armored personnel carriers, trucks and tanks. When we met them somewhere in stores, we tried not to look them in the eye. When they came up with this pseudo-referendum, women with armed men walked around the stairwells and forced people to vote. Unfortunately, they stayed here for the whole occupation. On January 22 this year, my child and I left for Mykolaiv. We live on the money paid to us by the state. We rent a room in a dormitory, but unfortunately, I can't find a job now, I have no one to leave my child with. Therefore, we do not have enough money, and we are asking for your help. The country will be better in the future, of course. We will restore everything, we will rebuild it better than it was! Thank you, Glory to Ukraine!

Maryna Siryak from Polohy

Hello, before the war we lived with our family in the city of Polohy, Zaporizhzhia region. Our city is still under occupation. It came under occupation on March 3, 2022. My family: me, my husband and two daughters (7 and 12 years old) were in Polohy at that time. The power went out at once, and my children and I lived without electricity and water for 14 days. The city was destroyed! It was very scary! There was shooting, we were running in the basements. On April 7, my family and I left for Zaporizhzhia. It was very difficult for us to leave, the distance was 100 km, we were driving for almost 8 hours. There were 12 blocks of Russian posts, maybe 14, I don't remember... It was very scary what they were checking, they were all armed. One car was driving in front of us, they took one guy out of it and took him to a ditch, and his family was sent further. Because they found a tattoo of the coat of arms of Ukraine on his body and found a video on his phone that was not very good for them, which they did not like. At the moment we live in Zaporizhzhia, rent an apartment and do everything we can to ensure that our children grow up under the peaceful sky of Ukraine!
