Yuliya Hayduk from Zaporizhzhya
Good day! We are a big family from Zaporizhzhya, we have 3 children: Bohdana is 14 y.o., Daryna is 11 y.o., Tymofiy is 6 y.o. When the war started, I woke up to the fact that my messenger was just bursting with messages. I saw bombs being dropped on Ukraine. My first emotions were shock and tears. But then I pulled myself together because I have children and I had to do something. We were forced to leave Zaporizhzhia because I began to worry about the children’s reaction to this situation. We decided that we need to leave Zaporizhzhya. For children, the most frightening moment is the first air alarm. It was at night when we were still in Zaporizhzhya. We don’t have a basement and we spent the night just under the stairs. The children were crying, it was very scary, at that moment I thought that I had to leave in order not to break the children’s psyche. Before the war, I worked as a content manager, although I am a cook by profession, for the past 5 years I have been working remotely in an online children’s clothing store. Children perceive this situation very emotionally. Our grandparents and my brother remained in Zaporizhzhya. We call them several times a day, but the children are still very sad. They want to go home, but now I’m afraid to go home. Now we live in Poland. We live here for free until September. I want to thank the volunteers for supporting Ukraine in such a way. I need help first of all for my daughter, she has vision problems and we need a doctor’s consultation and replacement of glasses. We made an appointment with the doctor, but the appointment is for December. We can be admitted to a paid hospital sooner, but we don’t have the money for that. Glasses are also expensive. It was almost autumn. When we left, we took a few things with us, because our dogs were with us, so the children needed warm clothes. We ask for your help. My biggest fear is to read the news that orcs have entered Zaporizhzhya or blown up a nuclear power plant. The world should hear the mothers of Ukraine, our children should not draw such pictures, and should not have such emotions. This picture was drawn by my daughter, it is a reflection of her state of mind. Help Ukrainian mothers save their children. Ukraine will become a prosperous country and all Ukrainians with their children will return home and together we will rebuild our country.
