Yuliya Mykhaylova from Mykolayiv
My name is Yuliya. I am a mother of 4 children. Two children are students, two are schoolchildren. After February 24, we stayed in Mykolayiv for 2 weeks. Constant shelling and alarms led to fear in the younger children, so we left for a safer region, the Volyn region. Before the war, I worked as a teacher, and while the school year continued, I continued to teach remotely. The children were very afraid. When we left for Volyn, the children were still recovering for about 2 months. My children: Mariya is 6 years old, the son is 8 years old, the eldest son is 18 years old, daughter is 20 years old. Older children are independent, but they are students, so they need our financial support. We receive social benefits from the state. We are renting housing, preparing for the winter period: we need to buy firewood for heating. We also need to buy warm clothes for the children and us. We hope for a faster victory over the aggressor. Our biggest fear is that all of Ukraine will be occupied. Then we would have to make an even more difficult decision than the one we made at the beginning of March. The world needs to hear that this is war, this is the suffering of children, and this is depriving us of the opportunity to live our own lives in an independent country. We believe in victory!
