Yevheniya Dobraya from Kharkiv
Hello! My name is Yevheniya. I am 30 years old. These are my children: Marik is 10 months old and Kira is 6 years old. We are from Ukraine, the city of Kharkiv. We stayed in Kharkiv. Kira and Marika’s grandmothers also live with us, as well as my grandmother, she is a great-grandmother to the children. They are retired. My great-grandmother is disabled, we can’t leave. We also have two cats. Leaving was very problematic, so we stayed in Kharkiv. Our houses are destroyed, we live in the Saltivka area. This is the area that is mostly destroyed in the city. We went to the other end of the city, we live in the house of my mother’s friends, they gave us housing and allowed us to live here.
– Kira, what was the worst thing for you during the war?
– The worst thing for me was when there were explosions and destruction of houses, it is terrifying, painful, and sad.
Yes, it is very sad and scary. There is a real war going on in Ukraine. The news does not show much. There are some cities, such as Irpin, Bucha, Mariupol, and our Kharkiv – these cities are simply wiped off the face of the earth, destroyed.
– But we are alive and live in the house!
– Yes, we are alive, thank God. We are grateful that we are alive. We hope that everything will be fine. We are asking for financial help because we have all lost our jobs, and we need to live somehow. Humanitarian aid is now provided much less frequently. For the first two months, we received assistance, now there is almost no humanitarian aid. Therefore, we ask for your help. Thank you very much!
