$100 of $100 raised

February 24 completely changed the life of our family. That morning my husband and I were going to work as usual. The phone began to receive messages that the war had begun and that children could not be taken to kindergarten and school. Leaving the children with my grandmother, my husband and I ran to work because we were working on critical infrastructure. We worked at the Slovyansk thermal power plant. Every day we went to work seven days a week to help the town and to earn some money to buy food for the children, and the prices went up a lot. We worked until the last day until the shell landed near our house. I ran home in a panic because my children were at home. We have an 11-year-old daughter Yaroslava, who has a disability, and a 5-year-old son Dmytro. They were very scared that day. They understood what was happening, and why there was so much smoke and dirt in the apartment. From that day on, they lived in a bomb shelter and spent the night there. The children were afraid to go outside and go home. That week my husband and I finally decided to leave our hometown and leave everything there. We arrived in Poltava, where we were taken hospitably and were given humanitarian aid. Charitable organizations also helped us. I receive social assistance for a child with a disability in the amount of 2100 UAH. This money was barely enough to buy new bedding, pillows, blankets, and other household items that we could not take with us to Poltava. Now we need to buy medicine for our daughter to undergo a full course of treatment, we need to pay rent and utilities, and buy summer clothes for the whole family. I am very afraid that our relatives who remained in the town, who cannot be evacuated, may die or be injured. I dream that Ukraine will soon win and our family, like thousands of other families, will finally be able to return home. I want the whole world to hear the voices of the children, and civilians of Ukraine, and make every effort for Ukraine’s victory over Russian troops. Ukraine is a strong nation, a strong state, it will be able to rise from its knees and rebuild everything that was destroyed, and become even better. Everything will be Ukraine!
