Viktoriya Basarab from Beryslav
Hello, my name is Viktoriya. We are a family of IDPs from the Kherson region. I have 2 children. Before the war, I worked as an accountant at a school. The war came to our family unexpectedly, we could not believe that Russia would attack until the last moment. Our children had to go to school that day. Our village was occupied since March 10. Until then, we only heard explosions. Tanks entered the village, they started taking people prisoner and checking cell phones. They went from house to house, checking passports, and looting. They forbade us to leave. The shops were empty, there was no bread. There were no medicines either. The situation was critical. Once they stopped by our neighbors’ house. They searched the house and then started shooting. The children were very scared. That was the reason why we left. We took a risk. The road was difficult, we were traveling for a long time. We told the Russians at the checkpoints that we were going to our relatives for the holidays, and they let us out. Now we cannot return home because the village is constantly under fire. Now we live in rented housing in the city of Kryvyi Rih. We need money to pay for housing. We are given food, but unfortunately, it is not enough. Most of all, I am worried about my children, and I am also worried that we will have a place to return to – that our house will survive. Our family will be very grateful for your help.
