Olena Tetyokha from Popasna
Good day! My name is Olena. My family and I moved from the Popasna district. We were at home until May 28, we endured for 3 months, but we couldn’t stand it. Our soldiers took us to Bakhmut, then we went to Dnipro. Now we are renting an apartment here with our children because we could only live in the hostel only for 3 days. How did we live in Popasna? Difficult, without food, without electricity for many months. Before the war, I did not work because I have a small child. The husband worked at the factory. The factory was destroyed, and his documents were burned there. The eldest daughter also had a job. Now our life has turned upside down. We don’t have a house. We have nothing. We live in the Dnipro at the expense of humanitarian aid. The man got a job in Dnipro yesterday. The daughter is undergoing an internship for work. We live in a rented apartment, we pay UAH 8,500, and we pay the rent from the funds that are given to us as assistance. We miss not our home, not our things. We regret that we left the dogs and the cat there. Nothing else is a pity, what has been accumulated over the years, nothing is a pity. It’s a pity for the animals, they are waiting for us, but we couldn’t take them out, because there was a strong air strike and we ran as best we could, there was not enough space in the car. I am so ashamed in front of them, they are waiting for us, and maybe they are not waiting anymore. We no longer have a house. We have nowhere to go back. Thank you for your attention.
