Lyudmyla K. from Kherson
Due to possible threats to the security of this family, we chose to unpublish the images identifying the family. The family remains under occupation, and truly needs help.
We found out about the war around 5 in the morning when a relative who lives closer to Crimea called us and said: “It might have started.” At first, we didn’t believe it, but then around 7 in the morning the teacher called and informed us that the students are staying at home today, not going anywhere, we are waiting for further messages. Since then, since February 24, neither I nor my husband has been working. I worked at a company that delivered food to schools and kindergartens in the Kherson region. The child studied remotely until June. The teachers threw assignments, so we finished the school year. We lived on the outskirts of Kherson. Because our house is close to a place where explosions are constantly heard, we moved to the city center to live with friends. Now we live here. We did not receive any assistance or social benefits but we have a salary. Now I cannot go to the employment center as an unemployed person because I was not officially fired from the company where I worked. We are not immigrants, so we did not receive anything. The worst thing was when they came to check the documents. I don’t know what to say next.
