Hi, my name is Kateryna. My family survived the occupation in the city of Kherson for all 8 months. It was an extremely difficult period for our family because we had a clear Ukrainian position. And every time we were desperate. And we were very afraid that they would come for us. People were taken away in an unknown direction before our eyes. Every day, raids were constantly going around the city, looking for people who cooperated with Ukraine, with our armed forces and with our government.
On March 1, 22, our neighborhood and personally our multi-storey building were shelled and suffered a lot of damage, there were also victims.
The children held on, we have children, 2 children, five years old and 17 years old. We supported them as much as we could all this time and distracted them from all the disruptions, because rockets were constantly hitting our neighborhood. The walls were shaking and it was very, very loud. If I can, I will attach a picture after the video.We knew that our family would not be able to evacuate because of the checkpoints, so we stayed in the city until the last one and waited for the liberation.
During the entire period of occupation, the enemy destroyed our mobile stations, so we had no Ukrainian connection, we could not withdraw money normally. When we were de-occupied, we had no electricity, water, communication, heating, so we were without all of this for more than 20 days, and the worst part was the last days. We were standing for water for 10 hours a day. Just to collect drinking water and bring it home, without electricity, without water, without heating.
I believe that everyone who survived the occupation is a hero! Because it was extremely difficult! Every time we were afraid that they would come for us and take us or our children away.
