On the day when the war came to our town, I was going to work. Then I heard explosions. I got a call from the director and told everyone to stay home. I worked as a teacher in a preschool education institution. After February 24, I only saw my pupils online through the phone screen. At first, shops in the town were open and people bought food and water en masse. Then the shops started to close and it was already more difficult to find food and other things necessary for life. During the shelling, we hid in the corridor or the bathroom. I have a daughter, Kateryna, 16 years old, and a son, Serhiy, 8 years old. After the shelling, my daughter could not sleep at all, so I gave her a sedative. The most terrible was air rocket strikes. Even those people who were hiding in basements died. Then we decided to evacuate to a safer place. Now we are in the town of Oleksandriya. Here we rent housing. We receive state aid of UAH 8,000. We did not receive aid from UNICEF and the Red Cross. We need financial help the most because renting housing is expensive. Children need food and clothing. In the future, I see Ukraine as a strong and independent state. Our biggest fear is that our town of Bakhmut will be completely destroyed and we will have nowhere to return. We thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine and believe that the whole world should know our heroes.
