Good morning! My name is Kateryna, I have 3 children: Varvara is 7 y.o., the middle son Petro is 11 y.o., and the oldest daughter Melaniya is 14 y.o. We arrived from Bakhmut, the Donetsk region. On February 24th, we woke up to terrible explosions at 4:30 in the morning. We immediately ran to the basement. It was very scary. We were scared and did not understand what was happening. Our life has changed a lot. Time seemed to stop with the start of the war. It is difficult for us to lose our home a second time. The first time was in 2014. From February 24, 2022, it happened again. The worst thing is when you can’t control the situation, you can’t calm the children down. It’s painful to watch when the children are sitting in the cold basement. Children ask for food, and you can only give canned food, you cannot provide children with normal food – it is difficult. I worked before the war, I was a public figure in the town of Bakhmut. I worked with children with disabilities, I worked with immigrants. We rebuilt our town together and built playgrounds because in 2014 our town was destroyed for the first time. The children reacted very difficultly because all our relatives stayed there. Every minute of their life is happiness for us. We are very worried about them. I was left alone with the children. We don’t have anyone else. Now we live in the Volyn region. We need help with housing and work. We were left with nothing. Our home is gone. We need food, and clothes for school. I believe that Ukraine is strong and we will win, we are all together!
