Hanna Kolodka from Kharkiv
I am 30 years old. I live in the Kharkiv region. I have lived there all my life in the village, I have my garden, household, everything of my own and everything is fine. February 24 changed everything. We woke up to calls, but the phone did not calm down. The first thought is fear. Is it here? Is it in Ukraine? I’m pregnant. I have 2 children – Yehor, 3 years old, and Vitaliy, 13 years old. The husband was not around at that time. I did not sleep or eat for two days, constantly waited for my husband, constantly read the news, and cried. My younger son was scared when he saw my tears. The eldest son was frightened. He constantly asked me something, he was afraid. I did not understand how to explain everything. When the husband arrived, it didn’t get any easier. I didn’t want to leave home, but I hesitated for a while. 15 minutes, 1 bag for everyone. We went from the Kharkiv region to the Dnipropetrovsk region. The husband found an apartment. We pay rent and utilities. Our savings were enough for 2 months. Now the husband is trying to find a part-time job, but it is not enough. We are constantly scared by sirens, news, and children’s questions. Fear, stress – in my condition is bad. The husband has a disability in the third group. It is now the 4th month of the war and we are barely making ends meet. A week has passed since the children fell ill. The younger son was in the hospital with poisoning. The elder had bronchitis. But we believe, we believe in Ukraine and we believe in our victory. I did not apply for humanitarian aid, but now there is such a need because it is very difficult. Everything will be Ukraine!
