Dmytro Mykhaylichenko from Kramatorsk
Good day! Like all Ukrainians, war came to us on February 24, 2022. Our hometown Kramatorsk was shelled in the morning while we were still sleeping. The shelling continued throughout the day. After February 24, our life changed completely. We lost our jobs. We stayed in the town for another month, after which we were forced to leave due to constant shelling. At first, we stayed with our friends in Svyatohorsk, we thought it would be safe there because it is a holy place, there is the Svyatohorsk Lavra. But this town was also shelled. The most difficult thing we had to go through was the air bombardment. It is simply beyond words.
Before the war, I worked as a director of a shopping center in Kramatorsk. With the beginning of the war, the management decided to stop the activity of the shopping center. After that, we left Kramatorsk. Now we are in the city of Kyiv.
My children: my daughter is 18 years old, she is studying at a medical university, and my youngest son is 5 years old, he suffered the bombing and began to stutter. I did not receive anything from the state. I applied to all foundations. I sent letters about humanitarian aid, about work. They did not help me. I also appealed to UNICEF and the Red Cross, but I did not receive help from them either. We now live in a rented apartment, which we pay for with the money we have saved all our lives. Most of all, we need help with food and money for rent. The cost of rent has increased in Ukraine. All our money goes to rent and food. Of course, I want Ukraine to prosperous. I believe that Ukraine will be prosperous. I want the whole world to see and hear about what is happening in Ukraine now. I know that until misfortune knocks on your door, it will be difficult for you to understand us, but always remain human. I am most afraid of losing my family, which is why we had to leave. We hope we are in a safe place now.
