Join Us We Need Your Help
Good afternoon, my name is Daria Aleksandrova. I am 24 years old, I am from the city of Donetsk. But in 2014, we moved to the city of Berdiansk.
On February 24, 2022, we woke up at 5 a.m. from the explosions. We had only one child at the time. She was a girl, she was 3 years old, we were all very scared, my husband filled up the car with gas, we went shopping, we bought food with all the money we had and just stayed at home, waiting, we did not know what would happen next. After 3 days, the occupiers entered our city, tanks were just driving by our windows. We hardly ever went outside because we didn’t know what to expect from them. We slept in a closet in our apartments because it was very scary to sleep near the windows, and after about three weeks, we decided to leave the city of Berdiansk.
We passed through 18, 20 Russian checkpoints, it was very scary, everyone was nervous and stressed, and when we were standing in line at the checkpoint, we heard the bombs behind us, well, the bombs started to come closer and closer, the child was very scared, we were all very scared. Our child reacts very strongly when there is an air raid, he asks to hide, to go to the bomb shelter, he is very afraid because we just miraculously left that checkpoint. But the column that was behind us was simply bombed… We just miraculously survived and went to Zaporizhzhia. Then we came to Khmelnytskyi, where we had relatives and for a while we could live with them, but then we rented a house. My husband went to the TRO, then he joined the Armed Forces, and now he is defending our country. Our children are 5 years and ten months old, the boy was born during the war. We need help most of all for the children, for renting a house, because it is very expensive now. This is in western Ukraine, we will be very grateful for this help. We received one-time aid from the UN last year and part of it came at the beginning of this year, so we will be very grateful to you.
