My name is Anastasiya Talalayeva. On February 24, 2022, my family and I were forced to leave our home in the town of Kreminna, the Luhansk region. On this day, at 5 in the morning, hostilities began in our town and near it. We left our car at home because it was broken. That’s why we left in someone else’s vehicle and took a few things with us. We didn’t know where we were going. We drove away so that our children would not hear or see this horror. First, we went to Ternopil. We lived there for 2 months in rented accommodation. Humanitarian headquarters helped us with food and hygiene products. Then we had to move to Kyiv because housing in Ternopil is too expensive. Now we are in the city of Kyiv, live in a rented apartment, and pay rent and utilities. Our town is now occupied. The children did not see all this horror that is happening there, because we left there in time. They hear about the war from our conversations, from the news, but they did not see it with their own eyes, we are very happy about it. I have 3 children: Darya is 8 years old, Bohdana is 3 years old, and Maryan is 2 years old. I am currently on maternity leave, so I do not receive a salary, although I am officially employed by the National Police of Ukraine. My husband worked in court security, but he voluntarily went to the army of Ukraine. He is currently in training as he is not in the military so he has no salary. We live on social benefits from the state. We also received help from UNICEF. The Red Cross gave us vouchers to buy food at the supermarket. Our biggest need is food and hygiene products. Summer clothes were partially provided to us, but children grow quickly. Children need to be collected for school and kindergarten. Our biggest fear is that the war can spread further. We want our boys to get our territories back and everyone to come home safe and alive and our family can be together again. We want peace and we want to go home.
