Hello! We are a large family from a small village in the Kherson region. We will never forget the terrible news that the war has begun. On February 24, our territory was occupied on the first day of the war. There was panic. No one was ready for this. It was very scary to be there. People who tried to evacuate on the first day of the war were shot. It didn’t matter to them whether it was children or women – it didn’t matter who was in the car. Therefore, we faced a difficult choice – whether to stay in the occupied territory or leave there. This choice was difficult to make, I made this choice both for myself and for my children. It takes a long time to tell what it’s like to live under occupation… We left the occupied territory in April. Before the war, I studied to be an accountant and was a housewife. We had a vegetable garden, and we lived from it. It was very difficult for me and the children because we left for Kyiv. Here we had acquaintances who helped us rent housing. We pay rent. I have 3 children. Yelyzaveta is 15 years old, the son is 7 years old, and the youngest daughter. All of them are already schoolchildren, the youngest is going to the first grade this year. We received help from the Red Cross, for which we are very grateful. We need help because a lot of money goes to paying rent. I receive social benefits as an internally displaced person for myself and my children. A total of 11,000 UAH, of which 6,000 UAH we pay for rent. It is very unusual for us to buy vegetables and fruits because we had them all our own. It is a big city and it is very unusual for us. Of course, I see Ukraine as independent, prosperous, and strong. Ukraine already is like that. We want everything to be fine in our country because we are on our land. It is very scary for my children, it is scary for all children, all over Ukraine. Children go through this… There is information about Bucha, Irpin, and how our children were abused by the Russian occupiers.
